Sales of Reusable Barbecues Temporarily Banned

The UK has temporarily banned the sale of reusable barbecues due to extreme heat conditions and drought. The government stated that these products pose a "serious danger" to the public, along with concerns that they have caused many large fires during the summer months.

The ban came after an emergency meeting held by the government in recent days. Prime Minister Andy Burnham described the country's current situation as a "matchbox" and announced that 200 soldiers have been deployed to support emergency teams battling the fires. Burnham emphasized that more soldiers would be sent to other areas if necessary.

A total of 1,017 fires have been recorded in England and Wales this year. This figure is equal to the previous year's record. Most of the fires occurred in the West Midlands region, while a major incident was declared near Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, leading to the evacuation of many homes. Additionally, a fire that has been ongoing for five days is being battled in the New Forest area of Hampshire.

The government has warned all citizens to avoid open flames and to dispose of cigarette butts carefully. Furthermore, an emergency alert sent to mobile phones indicated a high risk of fire across England and Wales, reminding that reusable barbecues, fire pits, and fireworks should not be used.

It was announced that the ban is valid in England, Scotland, and Wales, but does not cover Northern Ireland. Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds stated that the measures taken are "sensible steps to protect lives and the environment." It was also expressed that this ban would be reviewed with an open feedback system.
